Youth Protection Training

The Boy Scouts of America takes great pride in the quality of our adult leadership. Being a leader in the BSA is a privilege, not a right. The quality of the program and the safety of our youth members call for high-quality adult leaders. We work closely with our chartered organization to help recruit the best possible leaders for Boy Scout  Troop 72.

  • Beginning June 1, 2018, all adults who will be present at a Scouting activity for 72 hours or more must register as volunteers and complete a background check and Youth Protection training. This includes parents, merit badge counselors and any other adult who will be there for an extended time.

Troop 72 provides an in-troop Patrol Leader Development training program (PLD). Our leaders and experienced Scouts run this training program each year for selected Scouts that we will look to as current and future leaders within the Troop.
The program is run over the course of 1 1/2 months
with (3) 1 hr sessions prior to a Troop meeting and a 1 full-day
